The truth about self publishing
Self publishing is all about multitasking, which is definitely playing out this year, when I’ve taken time out to focus on my website, but neglected my work in progress. But the truth is, if I can’t sell the books I’ve already published and had printed, pushing forward with another book makes little sense. Anyway, with visits and views up on my website, I’ve been concentrating on illustrating my work in progress, and guess what… the views and visits have tailed off. So here I am spinning a few plates to let everyone know that my website bookshop is still very much open for business. I’ll just be behind the counter doing a few sketches, pulling out the paint box and getting my next book a little bit closer to the finish line…
As always the illustrations are the part of the book that I find most challenging. When I’m writing the words, the imagination flows and words almost write themselves. But then I need to illustrate the story, and in the case of my current work in progress, some of the characters are a little difficult to pin down, which ironically is the theme of the story, one set of characters trying to find the others… intrigued? I must admit that description intrigues me too, and spurs me on to get to work and make this book a reality. So I’m going to leave this blog post here, and get to work.
