Dear Abyss,
I’ve had my head down getting on with illustrations for the work in progress, because the work in progress is progressing again at last. The truth about self publishing is that it’s all down to me. So if I’m concentrating on one task, the others grind to a halt. I’m mindful of the analogy of keeping plates spinning, but sometimes it can be hard to tackle tasks that need a lot of brain power, while trying to spin plates, the resulting crashes of getting it wrong are enough to give me a headache. And so, while I’ve been spending time working on my website and online bookshop, other things have had to wait. But now everything is in place for orders to come in. The books are ready, there’s packaging on hand to tuck them into, for their travels out to you. So I’m now ready to start spinning plates again…
I must admit to getting a bit side tracked when I got my paints out again, trying out different mediums to see which suited my characters best. I had a lovely time making bubble art one day, I have a couple of fairly illusive characters in my story, and extra thought needs to be put into how to portray them, but I’m definitely having fun experimenting/playing – because we learn by playing, especially when it comes to being creative.
So please pop over to my bookshop and have a browse around, I’ll be right here behind the counter, waiting to sign books and send them out to you. Don’t worry if you hear a crash… sometimes plates stop spinning…
