Almost the end of December, and the end of another year… a year in which I’ve put a lot of time and effort into my website, and what have I learnt?
I’m resisting the temptation to do this as a bullet marked list, because I’ve learnt that they are not the flavour of the moment… why I’m not entirely sure, maybe that’s something I need to learn next, or maybe not, maybe just run with it.
I think the main thing I’ve learnt is that the best way to learn technical skills, like with anything else, is through play. I took a chunk of time out to just play with my website, to press buttons, just to see what they did and where they took me, getting a better understanding of the website and how to make it work for me. Of course this took away from writing time, but time out to play is time well spent.
At the Christmas fair I attended at the beginning of December I had some lovely feedback from people who’d bought my books in previous years, and had enjoyed them, and there’s no better compliment than that.
And with that I’m going to switch off technology for today, it is after all still Christmas and with all the effort that goes into preparing for the festive season, I think I deserve a little time to recharge, before the new year arrives and I feel compelled to start spinning plates again.
Happy New Year one and all!
