Book Signing at Christmas Fair

On Saturday7th December, tucked away from storm Darragh, the annual Christmas fair in the Tithe Barn in Nether Popppleton near York, was in full swing. Our only view of the storm was through two small windows as the wooden shutters had been closed across the windowed barn doors. The rain showers were apparent as people came in with rain on their coats. We were lucky to go ahead as outdoor events had to be cancelled.

As promised in my last post, here is my update on my table cover. I appliquéd a Christmas tree and the word ‘Books’ onto the cloth, and spread a red chiffon cloth across the top, to add a festive feel. I used my new wooden sign with ‘Book signing’ burnt into the wood. My basket had little wash lines set up to display my crocheted hats and scarves bookmarks. I have book stands to make my books stand out from a distance and fairy lights as lights always draw the eye a display. All in all I was happy with my display, and it was fairly quick and easy to set up, which is very important on the morning of a fair.

Book sales were good, despite fewer numbers of customers; it was busier in the morning than the afternoon, as people came ahead of the worst of the storm. It’s always nice to think of my books being opened on Christmas morning, books have always been part of my Christmas, both giving and receiving and now my books are going out into the world to be part of Christmas far and wide.

All my books are still available in my in my bookshop.

Happy Christmas one and all!
