What would happen I wonder, if books could escape...
Greetings – do come in and have a rummage around, mind your step, there may be loose characters roaming free, there’s been a breakout you see – something very strange has happened in the stockroom, the boxes are strewn all over, books everywhere…
Can I confide in you? You look like the sort of person who has an open mind… you see I think the books are getting restless…
I think they’re trying to escape…
I can see I’ve worried you, no don’t go – take a look for yourself, here, I’ll get the stockroom key.
They appeared out of nowhere – the marks on the floor. I try not to think of them as footprints, but I’m struggling for any other explanation…
