Book promoting
When the book is full of words it’s just the beginning. The words need to be reread and edited, duplicate or excess words removed, by force if necessary… But even when all this is done and the book is published, there is still a need for more words, because people need to know that the book exists.
But why are the promotional words the hardest words to write? A story might happily fall into place, words flowing onto the page, but when it comes to promoting the book, the ideas run for cover, leaving the words to fall in a jumble waiting for fresh inspiration. What is needed is a bit of imagination in book promoting, something that is interesting enough to inspire the writer’s imagination is surely more likely to inspire a prospective book buyer to pick the book up, or even search it out. But it’s a crowded market place, books falling over each other to be noticed.
So what is the answer? I think there are many answers, and when I find one, I might just write a book about it, but until then I’ll share my journey.
