The waiting game

So... this year I've been submitting to literary agents. I've submitted to three agents, one at a time, reading their requirements, likes and dislikes.

The first submission disappeared into the abyss, never to be heard from again.

The second sent a fairly standard thanks but no thanks, and wished me luck elsewhere.

The third was quite complimentary about my work, but it still wasn't quite right for them, but did give words of encouragement to keep trying.

And so my book sits in limbo, awaiting my next move. But it's full of unruly characters, who may get impatient to go out and share their story. There've already made their mark in sketchbooks, on a chalk board and in other random places, so maybe self publish is calling again...

As a self publisher you’ve likely already come up against some sort of barrier in traditional publishing.
