There have been more visitors to my website this week, and not just taking a quick peek, but staying around to have a rummage. My books have been on their best behaviour, each waiting in turn, in their own section of the website, each one standing proud behind its cover and title. Each one hoping to grab the attention of a reader, someone who wants to jump into a story, get lost in a book, and meet new characters.
As a self publisher, the hardest part is getting my books out to a wider audience. But I see this as just one more hurdle to clear, not necessarily to get over, but maybe to get round, under, or even just push it out of the way, how solid can it be…? Maybe if I gather all my book characters together, we can tackle the hurdle together…
Doodle Mayhem is a prime candidate for disrupting the way of things, and not accepting a barrier to getting out into the world. Iver No-Idea is an unruly character, tentatively held in place by punctuation, but Iver is not above pulling letters off the page and throwing them, so what if he starts kicking full stops around and escapes out of his book…
The books are all calling for a website shop to open, a little corner of the internet to call their own and share their message; they are ready to fly the nest, escape the stockroom and venture out into the world.
And so I’m not sure how much more I can squeeze out of my one page website with blog, but I’m having fun trying, and learning a lot along the way.
A shop is coming… just watch this space.
